Pyinkado Pyinkado

Pyinkado is a very hard, durable wood. This hardwood tree grows to a height of 120 ft. The trunk is straight, cylindrical and clear to 40 ft. The trunk diameters range to 4 ft. Its heartwood is extremely resistant to preservative treatments in industrial applications due to high content of natural oils. A water based finish is recommended. Yellow Balau resembles Teak in color and grain, although Yellow Balau is not nearly as dense or oily. The appeal of Yellow Balau is its resemblance to Teak, although at a much lower cost. Manni is very easy to work with both by hand and machine tools. This tree is frequently 100 ft. in height with a trunk diameter of 20 -30 inches. The heartwood of this wood is yellowish, grayish or greenish brown. The color combinations of this wood are beautiful. The grain is straight to irregular. Manni is used for general construction, railroad crossties, and flooring. Manni is 15-20% harder than Teak and is often used as a substitute for Oak.

The 21 species of Asian Walnut range across the north temperate Old World from southeast Europe east to Japan, and more widely in the New World from southeast Canada west to California and south to Argentina. They are deciduous trees, 10-40 meters tall. (about 30-130ft.) Asian Walnut and its allies, are important for their attractive timber, which is hard, dense, tight-grained and polishes to a very smooth finish. The color ranges from creamy white in the sapwood to a dark chocolate color in the heartwood. Because of its color, hardness and grain it is a prized furniture and carving wood. Veneer sliced from walnut burl is one of the most valuable and highly prized by cabinet makers and prestige car manufacturers.

Timbers from Malaysia contain a large number of species and are most variable in properties. The trunk of this tree diameters 3-6 ft., commonly with a small buttressed base.

It is a fast growing tree that regenerates from the stump or roots from a previously harvested tree and reaches a height up to 100 ft. It is an evergreen tree with a straight trunk.
