Manni
Manni is very easy to work with both by hand and machine tools. This tree is frequently 100 ft. in height with a trunk diameter of 20 -30 inches. The heartwood of this wood is yellowish, grayish or greenish brown. The color combinations of this wood are beautiful. The grain is straight to irregular. Manni is used for general construction, railroad crossties, and flooring. Manni is 15-20% harder than Teak and is often used as a substitute for Oak.
Botanical Name: Symphonia globulifera
Color: The heartwood of this wood is yellowish, grayish, or greenish brown. The wood can also be striped in these shades. The luster of this wood is medium with a coarse texture.
Grain: The grain of this wood is straight to irregular. This tree is frequently 100 feet in height with a trunk diameter of 20-30 inches; exceptional specimens are 135 feet tall with diameters over 40 in.
Uses: Manni is used for flooring, general construction, utility plywood, railroad crossties and is a suggested substitute for oak.
Hardness: Manni has a hardness of 1,120 on the Janka scale.
